I have been away as of late, but I have puttered when I can.
I was reading the gospel of Schwarz and in one chapter on clamps he says that “screws” are clamps….I had to think that through…..
I know using screws to clamp the plane was definitely an anarchistic thing to do. But once I overcame my EGO about THIS the plane went easier.
But alas it was all for naught. NOT, we have had lots of rain in the Austin area and since summer decided to land we are now looking at 97’s with high humidity. This summer was not an air drying summer for lumber. Once I cut out the throat and dry-fit the blade and it fit great and it even grabbed when I dragged it across another board. the 2 halves ended up twisting over night and putting all to waste.
- Use “dry” wood
- Don’t use pine

the above photos. I stropped the blade on the “beater” and managed to set it up and pulled some thin shavings, the dog? we don’t have dogs. We are the Assisi Home of lost and wandering animals. Animals lost or just “out” w/o parents end up at our house they get food, water, rest, and love and attention. This young man’s name is Rockit. He spent the day chilling and hanging out with us until his daddy noticed we posted his dog on Craigslist.
I don’t think I will be working much for the next 60 days….it’s too hot
